HOW TO COOK IT?
Braided beef stew is a delicious and much appreciated dish. Here is a recipe to prepare it:
Braided Beef Stew
Ingredients:
- 800 g beef (diced or striped)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, cut into rounds
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 potatoes, cut into cubes
- 1 cup fresh or frozen peas
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup of red wine
- 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Flour to taste (to flour the meat)
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 160°C.
- In a saucepan or heatproof pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Lightly flour the beef pieces and brown them in a pan until golden brown on all sides. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the chopped onion and minced garlic and fry until translucent and fragrant.
- Add the diced carrots, celery and potatoes and continue to cook for a few minutes.
- Pour the red wine into the pan and scrape the bottom to release any remaining meat and flavors.
- Add the tomato paste, beef broth, bay leaves, thyme and rosemary. Mix well.
- Add the previously browned beef and peas to the pan. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cover the pan with a heatproof lid and transfer it to the preheated oven.
- Cook the stew in the oven for about 2 hours or until the meat is tender and the flavors have blended perfectly.
- Taste and adjust salt and pepper if necessary.
- Serve the braided beef stew hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
- Accompany the stew with crunchy bread or a portion of white rice.
