HOW TO COOK IT?

Here is a recipe for cooking beef ribs in the oven:

Baked Beef Ribs

Ingredients:

  • 1.5-2 kg of beef ribs
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (optional, if you want a spicy kick)
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup meat or vegetable broth

Method:

  1. Marinating the Ribs:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, minced garlic, sweet paprika, red chili powder (if desired), brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, salt and freshly ground black pepper.
    • Add the beef short ribs to the marinade and massage them well to coat them evenly with the seasoning. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave to marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Cooking the Ribs:
    • Preheat the oven to 160°C.
    • Place the beef ribs on a baking tray lined with baking paper, being careful not to overlap them too much.
    • Pour the meat or vegetable broth into the bottom of the pan to prevent the ribs from drying out during cooking.
    • Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake the ribs in the preheated oven. Cook for about 2 hours, or until the ribs are tender and pull away easily from the bones.
  3. Gratin (optional):
    • If you want a golden, crispy crust, carefully remove the foil from the ribs during the last 15-20 minutes of cooking and raise the oven temperature to 200°C. Cook until the ribs are golden brown on the surface.
  4. Service:
    • Once cooked, transfer the ribs to a serving plate and serve hot. You can accompany the ribs with any side dishes you like, such as mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables or a mixed salad.
