HOW TO COOK IT?
Here is a classic recipe for preparing pasta with ragù:
Ingredients:
- 400g pasta (tagliatelle, pappardelle, or any favorite type)
- 400g of minced meat
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 medium carrots, finely chopped
- 2 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 800g peeled tomatoes (canned)
- 1 cup of red wine
- 1 cup meat or vegetable broth
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large pot or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, carrots, celery and garlic. Sauté until vegetables are soft and translucent, about 8 to 10 minutes.
- Add the ground beef to the pot. Break up the meat with a wooden spoon and brown until fully cooked and browned.
- Pour the red wine into the pan and let it evaporate completely, stirring occasionally.
- Add the peeled tomatoes crushed with your hands or previously blended. Mix well and leave to cook over medium-low heat for about 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add broth occasionally if the sauce seems too thick.
- During the last 15-20 minutes of cooking the ragù, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Drain the pasta and transfer it to the pot with the ragù. Mix well until the pasta is completely coated with the sauce.
- Serve the pasta with ragù hot, accompanied with grated parmesan if desired.
